Schubert (bis)
On the Wigmore Hall’s current podcast, I talk a bit about the first movement of the C Major Sonata and the second movement of the A Major Sonata, and play some illustrative examples. (My first experiment with such multi-tasking!)
For now, you can listen via the Wigmore’s site, but I’ll post the clips here soon as well.

Jonathan,
I clicked on “current podcast”, above, and got nothing… Was hoping that I’d hear you talk about the Reliquie…
While I really tried hard, and I also read your CD notes, I was not successful in connecting with this Schubert piece. I found it (from a composition standpoint) too driving, too rhythmic, ad lacking in any relief with quieter, sadder, perhaps more peaceful parts. Same for the second movement.
In contrast, I was delighted with your performance of the A-Major sonata; I see how busy you are with performances during February and March (a good thing!). If you have time, please see my review of your Wigmore CD at:

Click on the CD image to get the details…
And if you are so inclined, I’d love to hear from you about either my review, or your own concepts about the Reliquie…
Best wishes for success in all these concerts.
