I taught in CMW during one of its earlier years. I remember that when I came on board, the first question I asked Sebastian was how he managed to attract interest in the program. I was surprised to learn that the capacity of the organization was (at the time, seven years ago) maxed out, and in fact had a huge waiting list of kids wanting string-instrument lessons! This went against all my assumptions about how classical music would be fare outside the concert hall. CMW continues to offer a radically different message to the world, not just to West-End Providence.
